Mr. Gecko & Me Are Certified Super Marios!!

You won't believe it but Mr. Gecko & I just spent a total 3 HOURS together in our kitchen's bathroom this afternoon!!! Nah... before you get any askew thougths in your mind with us getting down and dirty for 3 hours in the bathroom, Mr. Gecko and I had just passed our crash course "Plumping @ Home 1101" module with flying colors and are truly certified Super Marios now!

I had been nagging at Mr. Gecko to call the plumber and fix the shower pipe so he and any other staying guests can bathe in our common bathroom. It was so inconvenient and frustrating everyone had to wait for their turn to bathe in my room's P & P (Private & Personal) toilet. It had been a standing issue for more than half a year, so you can imagine my increasing, incessant rantings to "FIX THE BLOODY SHOWER!!!".

Mr. Gecko, being Mr. Gecko thinks he can fix about anything in the house just because he managed to change the house lightings recently, decided this fixture should require no outside expertise too. He determinedly went on to buy the sticky tape and spanner to add in the new shower tap. (To give him credit, at least he knew that the sticky tape is an essential item).

Gosh... it was real trying and tough for the both of us just to unscrew the first of THREE! pipe ducts coz' it was screwed *no pun intended too* so tight and to make things more difficult, the pipe was fixed against the tiled wall. There was no way for us to turn the spanner 360 degrees or even getting a fine grip on the spanner itself. Both of us actually had to take turns to try unscrewng the ducts. After successfully doing all 3 ducts *phew~~*, we had to put in the new tap, paste the sticky tape around the duct again, screw tight again, one of us ran out of the flat to turn on the main pipe and the results?

Wah Piang Eh! Still leaking??!! What the hell??!!

We realised it was because we had not put enought sticky tape and we had to do the whole process all over again! Unscrewed duct again, round and round went the sticky tape, screwed tight, on the main pipe... To cut the story short, we had at least 3 tries per duct before we got the right amount of sticky tape round the duct to stop 3 areas of leakages. We worked from 3 in the afternoon, took a rest to gobble dinner and lasted till late in the evening.

I tell you, you'll find it hard to imagine this scenario if you had no experiences fixing pipe leakages like mine before. I kept begging and begging Mr. Gecko to call in professional help and his standard answer was "Just one more try huh, baby... Let me try just one more time..." *Grrr...* My tired and crest-fallen stance was totally lost on him.

But THUMBS UP to Mr. Gecko for not giving up! We eventually exorcised the Leakage Devil and the end result? We looked at each other wet faces and rang out a good laugh. Who'd have thought maintaining a house of our own will be so difficult yet so rewarding?

My Heart Gets A Little Prick Prick

Some typical coversations between my future mother-in-law (if I get to marry Mr. Gecko) and I go like these...

Topic 1 - About one of her favorite son's ex-girlfriend (repeated throughout 5 years)
AUNTIE: A*** and Y**H** went out together for 8 years, too bad they don't end up together. Both of them very good together, go out together and wear the same clothes. She is a very good girl you know, I love her very much, I still think about her and love her very much.
ME: Oh I see Auntie. That's very nice. I've seen her before and thinks she is very nice too!
AUNTIE: (holding my hand and looking into my eyes earnestly) She's also very pretty u know, very pretty girl, very pretty. I really love her lah.
ME: *smiles a widely*
AUNTIE: (eye to eye with me again) She's really very pretty, you know.
ME: Oh, ok auntie... (???)
(Auntie walked in front of me and conversation ceased)

Duh...

Topic 2 - Buying a roof for Mr. Gecko so all her sons can live with her under her one roof (repeated throughout the times she came over to stay put with Mr. Gecko and me)
AUNTIE: I ask Mr. Gecko to take my money and buy a flat in Singapore so all the brothers can stay together. Uncle and me can visit them or come over and live together.
ME: Auntie, Mr. Gecko must marry before he can buy a flat in Singapore. Besides, we are happy living in our current place now.
AUNTIE: No need one [to marry me]. Mr. Gecko can buy the flat together with his brother. I'll ask him again later.
ME: Oh, ok auntie...(???)

Duh duh...

Topic 3 - About me (a short conversation auntie had with her ex-best friend)
EX BEST FRIEND: Mr. Gecko's friend good girl hoh (referring to me).
AUNTIE: Ok only lah.
